This online publication about climate change is basically designed to engage citizens everywhere. In doing so, we will seek to introduce the subject and to stick to the basics in reporting on its global implications and how some countries are experiencing its impacts. We hope to attract readers who have never been introduced to climate change issues as well as those who have some awareness but have not been engaged. However, we will generally assume that the major portion of our members will be reading about climate change issues for the first time.
Very few international news organizations or reputable online sources report extensively on global climate related disasters when they occur, and most national and other local news sources report mainly on climate issues taking place in their individual countries or regions. As a consequence therefore, there is a global shortage of comprehensive and consistent reporting on major climate change induced disasters that are occurring frequently around the world, disasters like extreme heatwaves, rainstorms, floods, droughts and wildfires.
Some observers have also voiced concerns that most news organizations around the world report on climate disasters only in the context of national local events and not within the framework of the broader global climate emergency. The insufficient and narrow reporting on the global impacts of climate change is considered among the issues impeding climate change awareness among citizens around the world.
We will seek to assess climate change in a comprehensive fashion, simply analyzing what we consider to be some of its main issues, including the real practical effects of extreme climate events on the lives of citizens globally. Readers will notice, as intended, that climate change is having a serious and ongoing impact on the world at large and not within their individual countries alone. After understanding what is going on around the world, it will be up to citizens to determine if their countries need to do more to reduce or avert the impact of the climate crisis.
